vbfd safety squad Program

The VBFD Safety Squad partners with Virginia Beach City Public Schools (Health and PE Department), along with our public safety partners from the Virginia Beach Police Department (VBPD), Virginia Beach Emergency Communication and Citizen Services (ECCS/911), Virginia Beach Office of Emergency Management, and Virginia Beach EMS (VBEMS) to deliver this innovative educational program to students in grades K-5, providing a combination of in-person and virtual lessons to 56 elementary schools from September to May.

The Safety Squad program brings engaging lessons and interactive learning stations to our schools to teach students about a variety of safety and prevention lessons that align with Virginia's Health SOLs.

Homeschooled families are invited to join us at our annual "Homeschool Public Safety Day" in Spring of 2025.

These SOL-based and age-appropriate lessons below are designed to be introduced as a pre-lesson to the learning stations.

TEACHERS:

Safety Squad LIVE (Year 1): Please review or assign them to your students prior to our visit to your school.

Safety Squad EXTRA (Year 2): Please review or assign new and updated "Safety Squad EXTRA" slides to your students.
